I have always admired the way that paypal does business and how innovative their concepts truly are. Not to say they don't have any flaws becuase they do; especially drilling you with an ad before even being able to get to your acct.

Unfortunately that is only true if the merchant (ie seller) has a US Business account. As a Canadian merchant, I'm am still anxiously awaiting that feature!

Ha, you caught me checking! ;-) Thanks for letting your readers know that customers no longer need to have a PayPal account to pay via PayPal.

As for 'customizing the PayPal checkout page', last spring we added 'Custom Payment Pages' where you can change the background color and add your own banner image in the header.

And as for tools, we have a 'built-in' Button Factory for recreating Buy Now, Donate, Add-To-Cart and Subscription buttons. And we also have add-ins for FrontPage, Dreamweaver, Contribute and even Microsoft Outlook that help you create & insert buttons into your web pages and even email. http://www.paypal.com/pdn-ppsolutions and click on the link of your choice. As for the Shopping Cart, well ... what can I say. It is what it is. But we are working hard to integrate PayPal into as many Shopping Carts (like Kurant, LaGarde StoreFront, Miva & Mals-e.com) and online storefronts (like Tripod) as we can.
