In the June 27th issue of Mainebiz, Kimberly L. McCall interviews Michael W. McLaughlin on blogging.
While I wish she had just walked over to my office and interviewed a local Maine business blogger,
the interview was helpful to those just starting out.
McLaughlin states something we business blog consultants have said for a while:
Remember, you’ll need to post to your blog frequently, and present your thoughts in writing, which is time consuming. Some business owners simply don’t have the time–or writing ability–to devote to a blog.
That got me thinking: is it essential to write to a blog on a regular basis?
Obviously, the more often you post, the more often you can reach out to clients and prospects. But is three-times-a-week really the cost of entry into the blogosphere?
Looking at the search engine benefits alone, I think a case can be made for even the casual poster. Sure, you may not get many people frequenting your blog as often, or subscribing to your feed, but Google and other blog search engines will still be driving traffic to your blog. Set up correctly, it can then drive traffic to your Web site or convert prospects into clients.
How often do you blog? Are there any bloggers out there who blog no more than once a month?
