Yesterday flyte launched the Jeannie and Jeffrey Interview for Children for the Juvenile Bipolar Research Foundation.
This interactive survey, developed by Demitri Papolos and illustrated by Karl Gude, allows children to complete the interview securely and confidentially online. The completed interview — with additional information — can help a professional determine whether a diagnosis of bipolar disorder is appropriate.
To quote the Web site:
Children rarely have words to describe what they are feeling so
powerfully inside, and The Jeannie and Jeffrey provides the
psychiatrist, therapist, and parents insight into a child’s internal
world so that he or she feels less isolated and alone. Moreover,
medical and therapeutic interventions can be tailored to each child’s
concerns and subjective feelings, as well as to his- or her behaviors.
The public can visit JBRF.org and take the survey online, and print it with or without the illustrations to take to a qualified professional.
The Jeannie and Jeffrey Interview has also been added to JBRF’s
research surveys that are available for the families of children who
have an appropriate score on the Child Bipolar Questionnaire (CBQ).
The Juvenile Bipolar Research Foundation is the first charitable
organization dedicated to the support of research for the study of
early-onset bipolar disorder.
JBRF has organized a consortium of world-class investigators from a
number of medical schools, including the Albert Einstein College of
Medicine, Harvard University, Columbia University College of Physicians
and Surgeons, and Rockefeller University.
