&lt;p&gt;Not that it is a bad thing considering his already immense popularity, but for newer startups, it should never be enough to just put up a website, open a Twitter or Facebook account and inform the audience of your latest promotion. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Barack Obama gets away with directly engaging the different subsets of internet consumers simply because of the way his campaign is run. Newer startups do not have that luxury as consumers, unless they have different social media tools that keep them engaged on you, have a very fickle mindset, and as such, you need to engage with them more, be it direct replies out in the open or physical meet-ups.&lt;/p&gt;
