#FollowFriday is a meme on Twitter where you recommend to your followers some of the people you follow. It's the Twitter equivalent of a blogroll or a links page on your Web site. And, as the name implies, it happens on Friday.
While it's a great idea, because it introduces you to a bunch of really cool tweeps you may not have discovered otherwise, I've noticed that some people are doing it poorly.
Cramming a tweet full of Twitter handles without any explanation of why you should be following these people is pointless.
The only thing worse is when someone retweets (RT's) someone else's #followfriday list.
I mean, that's just lazy.
If you truly think someone is worth following, then you should explain why that person is worth following:
or
By the way, if you're not following @guidingstars or @nickihicks, I'm recommending that you do. And now you know why.

I like your examples, however it also seems @nickihicks works at your company. So it may be wiser to state that in the #followfirday tweet.
Carlos,
True, Nicki does work at our company, but that's not why I recommended her for #followfriday. In fact, @guidingstars is also a friend of mine, although I recommended her because I'm trying to eat healthier.
BTW, Carlos is also a friend of mine, but you should still follow him, too: http://twitter.com/CarlosHernandez
Thank you so much for the explanation and examples. I am newer to Twitter & as such haven't participated in Follow Friday yet. Now when I start, I can do it "the right way".
Thank you for the explanation of #FF (As I saw it in my Twitter feed) and promoting the best way to use it that benefits everyone. I’m still a novice when it comes to social media, but what I embrace [about social media] is the ability to support, recommend and help out others.
