Evanhoe & Associates Launch New WordPress Website

Thursday, June 2nd, 2011

IT, AIT, RFID and AIDC SolutionsEvanhoe & Associates is a provider of IT, AIT, RFID and AIDC solutions. If you’re not sure what all of those acronyms stand for, here’s a breakdown:

  • What is IT? OK, we started you off with an easy one: Information Technology.
  • What is AIT? AIT stands for Automatic Identification Technologies; with AIT workers can perform jobs better. Systems can assist with inventory, product shelf life, asset management and more.
  • What is RFID? RFID stands for Radio Frequency Identification; RFID enabled facilities allow for increased asset visibility throughout the manufacturing process.
  • What is AIDC? AIDC stands for Automatic Identification and Data Capture; which apparently does everything AIT does plus it captures data.

See, you learn something new every day. At least if you read the flyte blog.

Evanhoe works with a wide variety of industries; government, healthcare, horticulture, logistics, manufacturing and retail. Chances are, if you have a supply chain, Evanhoe can help you better manage it.

Flyte designed their new website and built it on WordPress, the popular content management system and blogging platform. Evanhoe can now update their website inhouse without any expensive software or HTML knowledge, giving them complete control over their web presence. Would you like that kind of control over your own website?

Maine Boys & Girls Camps Get Blogging

Tuesday, April 19th, 2011

Recently we started working with KieveWavus, a group that runs a number of camp programs in Maine. They run a Maine boys camp, Kieve (rhymes with beHAVE) and sister Maine girls camp, Wavus (I don’t know if it rhymes with anything, but it’s a short “a”).

In addition, they run The Leadership School, The Kennedy Learning Center, a Veterans’ Camp, and a 9/11 camp for the families and friends affected by the terrorist attacks.

Besides working with KW on their social media marketing, we developed a blog for them that would complement their current designs and branding. The blog is just getting started, but it will serve many purposes…everything from communications with parents, campers and alumni, as well as a way to reach out to veteran’s familes, and those affected by 9/11 to let them know there’s a safe place for them to come.

Both Kieve & Wavus have these amazing theme days…last year one of them was Avatar day, when the counselors dressed up in full Na’vi outfits and painted blue from head to toe. (I would have suggested that the following day would be Blue Man Group day, just to save time and blue paint.) They plan on keeping parents in the loop with some of the theme days throughout the summer months.

If you’re looking for a Maine camp for your son or daughter, be sure to check out KieveWavus.

Training & Coaching for Corporate Executives – The Loeb Group

Friday, April 15th, 2011

Loeb Group WebsiteRecently we launched a website for The Loeb Group, a professional development firm focused on helping corporate executives and agency professionals boost their communication and people skills.

On the corporate side, The Loeb Group offers corporate training, coaching and retreat facilitation. Their services are perfect if you’re stepping into a new position with greater visibility, or if you’re suddenly pushed into the spotlight as a company spokesperson, or if you find yourself managing a group of people for the first time.

The Loeb Group also works with PR, advertising and web marketing agencies. Beryl Loeb, the founder of The Loeb Group, has worked within or consulted to agencies for thirty years, so she really understands the inner workings of agencies, the crushing deadlines, the unrealistic client expectations, and the infusion of gen Y employees who “expect that their employers are going to help them hone their skills.”

Speaking of Beryl, she’s the blogger behind Loeb’s Lobs, the onsite blog for corporate execs and agency professionals. Recent posts include:

The site and blog were built on WordPress, the popular blogging and content management system platform. Now the Loeb Group can add, edit and delete the content on the website as easily as updating a Word document.

If you or someone in your office needs some executive level training to improve communications and interpersonal skills, be sure to check out The Loeb Group today.

Maine Marina & Boatyard: Yankee Marina on the Web

Maine Marina & Boatyard: Yankee Marina, Yarmouth, MaineLooking for the perfect Maine marina and boatyard? Need repowering for that yacht of yours? Or perhaps a seasonal slip?

If you answered “yes” to any of these questions then you need to check out Yankee Marina & Boatyard in Yarmouth, Maine…and you really should take me out for a spin. Don’t make me beg.

Boat and yacht owners who live or summer near Yarmouth, Maine, can get all of their marine-related needs taken care of by the staff at Yankee Marina. From custom wordworking to fiberglass repair, from marine electronics to mechanical systems, Yankee’s got you covered with their Boatyard Services.

And although the blog is fairly new, Yankee has taken to it like a yacht to water. They’ve posted details on a 1986 Sabre 28 repower to saildrive with tons of photos and uploaded a very zen video of a Fall Royal River Sunset Cruise.

The site and blog were designed and developed on WordPress so that Yankee could easily add, edit and delete content as necessary. As they add new marina services they’ll be able to create new pages and even update the navigation in house rather than coming back to us for simple updates. That frees up my time for that invitation to go with you on your boat that I’m still waiting on.

So, if you live in the state of Maine or just summer here, be sure to check out Yankee Marina & Boatyard.

Maine Small Business Development Centers: Help for Maine Startups

Monday, March 14th, 2011

Maine Small Business Development CentersMaine entrepreneurs and small business owners looking for help in starting or building their business have a great resource in the Maine Small Business Development Centers.

The Maine SBDC offers free one-on-one counseling to businesses at offices around the state of Maine. Besides counseling, the Maine SBDC also offers plenty of resources on their website, on everything from Developing a Business Plan to Marketing Your Business to information on Taxes and Bookkeeping. Entrepreneurs in need of inspiration and example can check out the site’s Success Stories.

Their new site also features events, workshops and small business news from around the state. It was nice to see that it didn’t matter who was putting on the event, even if it was being presented by a “competitor,” such as the Southern Maine Chapter of SCORE. The goal for the site, and the Maine SBDC is to help Maine entrepreneurs build successful businesses and improve the state’s economic status.

Flyte has always thought of itself as a small business that helps other small businesses grow. That’s why we were so excited to be part of the site’s redesign. We met with the Maine SBDC and discussed with the their goals for the site, and their mission. One thing that wasn’t getting across was the free counseling that was available. Whether it sounded too good to be true or was just lost in the shuffle of the home page, people weren’t requesting the help they needed.

In the redesign we made the request for counseling a more prominent part of the landscape of every page, and included it in the navigation. We’re still working with them to streamline the signup process, but that’s another story. ;)

Flyte designed the templates and built them out in HTML. The ME SBDC has an in house developer who then took our templates and configured them to work on their Cold Fusion-powered infrastructure.

If you’re a Maine based business looking for help on any aspect of your business, be sure to check out the Maine SBDC’s revamped website and request that free counseling. If you’re from out of state, there’s no better time to move your business or start a new business in the state. Maine offers the perfect work life balance for anyone who likes to ski, ride, bike, kayak, hike, or just about any other outdoor activity.

Luxury Yachts from Lazzara Yachts Run on WordPress

Thursday, January 6th, 2011

Luxury Motor YachtsFlyte recently launched a new web site and blog for Lazarra Yachts, makers of luxury motor yachts out of Tampa, Florida. If you’re in the market for a luxury yacht (and who isn’t?), this is the place to start your search. The site features information, specs and photos on their full line of  yachts, from the LSX 78 to the Breeze 76.

The yachts are stunning, and visitors can view interior and exterior photos, specs, floor plans, and even check out some cool videos of the motor yachts. Ready to buy? Just visit the Lazzara yacht sales page (no “buy now” button yet) or check out their Pre-Owned Yachts page for “gently used” boats.

Visitors interested in learning more about the company should check out the Heritage page which tells the story of how Vince Lazzara started the company:

Vince Lazzara was a chemical engineer from Chicago and while his background wasn’t in boatbuilding, he had a deep passion for the sea.He had a saying, “God only gives you so many days, but the ones you spend at sea don’t count against you”. So it’s no surprise that in 1955 he decided to build a boat for himself.  It was a 40 foot sailboat called the Bounty II.

It’s no surprise that that passion for the sea has been passed down to a 3rd generation that continue to push the envelope in yacht design.

VP Rich Lazzara maintains the company blog which focuses on new yachts and features as they are rolled out, as well as boating shows where Lazzara Yachts has a presence.

You can also connect with Lazzara Yachts through their Facebook page or follow them on Twitter.

Both the site and the blog were built on WordPress to allow Lazzara Yachts to be able to add, edit and delete copy, photos and video as needed and keep their ongoing maintenance costs down.
